Say hello to the coolest solar power generator you've ever seen

As a means of generating sustainable electricity, solar panels are a win. As objects of beauty, well, not so much. Barcelona-based architect André Broessel reimagines the look of renewable power with this stunning spherical glass solar energy generator, which we can only hope signals a prettier future for solar energy.

But it's not just a pretty face. Broessel's creation uses a ball lens that he claims is 35 percent more efficient than typical PV panels. The contraption can be outfitted with a dual-axis sun-tracking system, and smaller versions of can be placed on inclined or vertical surfaces like roofs or walls.

The spherical solar energy generator is still in its prototype phase, but if it takes off, we could be looking at a much more aesthetically pleasing renewable energy future.
