High Line's Final Phase Unveiled

  • Posted by SHFT on March 20, 2012 in Design
  • Six years ago, New Yorkers were introduced to the idea of converting a historic freight rail line into a public park. Since then, the High Line has become the city's most visited park. Now NYC parks officials and Friends of the High Line have revealed designs for the for the third and final section of the High Line, and we're pleased to say that it looks incredible.

The final phase is being called "The High Line at the Rail Yards" and will cut in and out of the Hudson Yards project, starting where the first two phases left off at 30th to 34th Streets. The plans include play areas for kids, as well an amphitheater performance space at 30th and 10th.

Most of the construction will be done by the end of 2013, and the grand public opening will go down in the spring of 2014.

    Awesome.
