Made from sustainable wood and salvaged steel, this movable log cabin—created by Dutch green design maestro Piet Hein Eek—is as clever as it gets.
Designed as a musician's rehearsal space—and built on wheels to avoid taxes and building regulations—the structure's facade is composed of small cross-sections of tree trunk. When the building is unoccupied and the shutters are closed, the cabin creates an illusion of a well-organized stack of logs.
When the shutters are open, a modern studio space is revealed. Encased in a steel frame salvaged from a builders' yard, the cabin's compact interior is all cheap plywood, painted a breezy pale blue. Panoramic windows afford inspiring views of the forest around for long hours composing.
