For this year's People's Meeting in Bornholm, Denmark, architects Kristoffer Tejlgaard and Benny Jepsen were asked to create a venue that would help spark debate and discussion about the future of housing. Their inventive response was the "People's Meeting Dome," a deconstructed geodesic dome made from a combination of recycled and local materials.
The building is composed of triangular modules that are pushed, pulled and extruded to reveal daylight through transparent PVC apertures that run perpendicular to the structure's surface. The materials, meanwhile, promote the meeting's themes of renewal and reuse. Discarded wooden boards form the dome's façade, as well as the basic tables and benches within the building.
It's not clear what will happen to the structure after the event runs its course. Here's to hoping they let it stand as a clever, sustainable interpretation of the geodesic dome.
