Ever since Kanye's great "Good Life" video from a few years back, animated typographic lyrics have become sort of a "thing" in music videos. We're not mad. When it's done well, it's a wonderful thing. French production outfit Cauboyz build on the movement with this superb piece for "Dreams" by their countrymen, Husbands. Mixing various fonts and graphical treatments all over the screen, Cauboyz......read more
We first heard of UK directing duo Christopher Barrett and Luke Taylor (aka Us) via their highly amazing animation for Benga's "I Will Never Change" video. Now they're back with more animated awesomeness in the form of this clip created as the second video for "My Number" by the Foals (here's the first). Bringing back fond memories of doing connect-the-dots puzzles as a kid, the video adds a......read more
Brighton, UK's lo-fi pop darlings Fear of Men just dropped this video for their bittersweet single, "Seer," from taken from their singles compilation Early Fragments (out now on Kanine Records). If you loved Thom Yorke's weird, flailing dance moves in the video for Radiohead's "Lotus Flower" or in that infamous SNL performance -- and really, who didn't -- then you'll be pleased with this new clip for "Ingenue" by his side project, Atoms For Peace. As if the end of a long weekend wasn't sad enough on it's own, this video for Fryars' "On Your Own" will get those tear ducts working double-time. The haunting, emotion-packed track is paired with morose visuals dominated by images of young ladies crying. We're not -- sniff-sniff -- the types to cry over a music video, but this is breaking our hearts. Fryars’ sophomore album is due out this......read more
Here's a wonderfully-crafted new music video for Paris-based indie pop act, Concorde. Directed by fellow Parisienne Maxime Bruneel, the clip combines animated overlays of alpine landscapes and starry skies with images of a flirtatious Concorde singer/guitarist Clement Froissart and a pretty blonde girl. All in all, it's a fun and playful video for a similarly upbeat track. "Summer......read more
Lovers of stop-motion behold this excellent wire-and-paper creation from Victor Haegelin of French studio Patador Prod.
