Welcome to the thermostat for the iPhone generation. The Nest Learning Thermostat is the brainchild of Tony Fadell, former head of iPod and iPhone development at Apple, who saw the need for a well-designed thermostat that cleverly saves homeowners money while reducing energy consumption. Fadell's Apple background shines through in the Nest's clean design and click-wheel functionality.
So what makes it "smart"? Nest is designed to learn homeowners' schedules over time, and can also connect to a home Wi-Fi or be remotely controlled with a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
The device is slated to hit the market in mid-November. You can reserve yours today.
