If you were around during the '70's, you probably remember this iconic image. There's a beautiful earnestness to this commercial that is summed up with the crying Indian who wasn't, in fact, Native American, but an Italian from central casting. But that doesn't diminish the power of the image he represented to a generation of environmentalists over 30 years ago. The footage of the garbage being thrown at Vinnie's feet was seared into the pop cultural psyche and the Keep America Beautiful campaign was a memorable one.
