Video Painting by Sweatshoppe

  • Custom software and a projector used to "paint" city walls around Europe

  • Tags:

High-tech art outfit Sweatshoppe (aka artist-programmers Blake Shaw and Bruno Levy) are taking video art into new territory with their brand of "video painting," seen here in action in cities around Europe. Armed with a projector, a roller, and some homemade software, the duo hit the night streets to paste up short-lived video collages on city walls.

But what looks like roller painting is really an illusion. The software they devised tracks the rollers and the video is projected onto whatever surface they roll them on. Meanwhile passers-by gasp in amazement.

For more, check out this video of Sweatshoppe painting at the Dis-Patch festival in Belgrade.
