It all started with a conversation and a spur of the moment trip to Cape Cod. Late into the night, over a few stiff Manhattans, a group of close friends and I planned the next morning. We would begin early; earlier than late-night scotch and revelry typically allows. Bleary eyed but excited we arrived on the shore a few hours later, greeted by high tide and a thin mist of rain. I started shooting as we chose two seaworthy boats to drag out into the water. The boys, dressed as fishermen, played the part so convincingly that I got lost in the moment and felt like I was documenting a morning fishing expedition.
This was by far one of my very favorite adventures. What started as a plan amongst friends on the shores of Cape Cod ended in this photo series and a story we’ll never forget. How wonderful it is to be at the right place at the right time with the right company. I couldn't help but picture my three friends, dressed the part, as characters in Jerome K. Jerome's novel "Three Men in a Boat":
“Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends..."
