In 1966, folk singer Pete Seeger and a group of Hudson River-lovers set out to reverse the plight of the polluted New York waterway. The group came together under the shared belief that “by learning to care for one boat on one river, the public could come to care for all our threatened waterways.”
Three years later, the Clearwater sloop made her maiden voyage down the Atlantic Coast from Maine to New York City. The boat's awareness-raising mission continues today.
