Eerily Enchanting Paintings by Antoine Corbineau

  • Posted by SHFT on February 17, 2015 in Art
  • These paintings from Antoine Corbineau give credence to the theory that some of the most interesting art begins life as a distraction from commercial projects. Corbineau, an illustrator and designer, has worked on a bunch of gigs for big commercial clients, often in a visually busy, map-like style using multiple media and featuring patchworks of color, texture and typography.

He somehow also finds the time and creative inspiration to do personal painting work. The paintings feature Antoine's trademark attention to detail but seem to come from a darker side of his brain. The familiar landscapes and domestic scenes are imbued with an ominous allure that's missing from his commercial work. Enchanting stuff.
