Food Tripping Across America: Baton Rouge, LA

  • Posted by Emily Caldwell on April 11, 2014 in Food Tripping
  • As Louisiana's second biggest city, Baton Rouge sits comfortably on Interstate 10, making it a perfect place to explore on any cross-country roadtrip.

Begin at Truly Free Bakery, where they bake the most delicious organic treats from scratch with all natural, organic ingredients. Endless healthy food options makes Truly Free a great place to start your day. Don't pass up the breakfast tacos with ground turkey or scrambled tofu and some salsa to get a little morning kick.

It's no secret that South Louisiana is rich in fresh seafood and produce, which needs to be appropriately seasoned in order to be enjoyed to the fullest. That's where Red Stick Spice comes in. Family-owned and passionate about their custom blends and signature Louisiana flavors, you can find exotic and familiar mixes as well as recipes to inspire your next bold and adventurous meal.

Don't leave Baton Rouge without stopping at Chelsea's Cafe. Granted, it's a little hard to find, but it's well worth the search - a real local hotspot with a great gastropub dining and small concerts.
