In a Haze: Samantha Casolari Photography

  • Posted by SHFT on April 4, 2011 in Art
  • Samantha Casolari's career as a photographer occurred by coincidence. Born in Italy, Casolari moved to Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 20 on a student exchange. Overwhelmed by culture shock, Casolari took refuge in the library, where she spent long hours pouring over photography books. Those lonely days inspired a new career shooting photos. Now living in Brooklyn, Casolari works as a self-taught freelance, sporting an impressive list of clients that includes Nike, New York Times, Dossier Journal, Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, and more.

About the washed out look that graces her pictures, Casolari told Mossless, "I don’t use filters or photoshop, as I would not know how to use either of them. Let’s just say I play around with my lenses a lot, and that if I explained too much it would take the magic away!"

    Fair enough.
