Island: Photos by Maroesjka Lavigna

  • Maroesjka Lavigna took off from her home in Ghent, Belgium for a summertime journey around Iceland, returning four months later with a superb photographic chronicle of her travels. Among the photos we find not only the requisite images of hot springs and desolate sweeping landscapes, but also portraits of locals and images of homes and streetscapes. The trip was so good, she decided to return for another month in the winter.

"The country turns blue at dusk in wintertime," she explains. "All colours fade. Cities look like scale models seeking shelter from the weather in the shadow of the mountains. It was my intention to express the dazzling moment, that sometimes, time seems to stop."
