Judging from these meticulously crafted mixed media works, Amy Eisenfeld Genser is one patient lady. For each piece, the Connecticut-based artist rolls up colored paper into hundreds of tubes, then adheres them to painted canvases. The results are stunning, polychromatic pieces of art that resemble undersea reefs. In fact, the natural environment inspires all of Gensler's work. As she says:
"I often look to the natural world for inspiration. I am fascinated by the flow of water, the organization of beehives, and the organic irregularity of plants, flowers, rock formations, barnacles, moss, and seaweed. Aerial views of our landscape can also be compelling; it is interesting how the organization of our landscape becomes quilt-like when viewed from above."
Agreed.
