  • Electric Avenue: The race for electric car dominance is underway, and GM is emerging as the early front-runner. According to CNN Money, since production began last November, U.S. sales of the Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid are three times that of the all-electric Nissan Leaf. On the strength of those numbers, GM is planning to roll out the Volt to all 50 states by the end of the year.

Material Matters: Material ConneXion has announced its annual list of the most innovative developments in sustainable materials. This year's title for Material of the Year goes to Novacem's carbon negative cement. Peep a slide show of all of the winners at Co Design

Moving Mountains: For the latest instalment in their Toxic series, VBS heads to West Virginia to report on the absurdly destructive practice of mountaintop mining.

Far be it for us to make claims we can't back up, but this is the best photo you'll see today.

Added to our blog reader (obviously): Go Climb a Rock, featuring found photos of vintage babes enjoying the Great Outdoors.
