The World We Live In

  • After gaining invaluable experience as an intern at Magnum in New York City, Austrian photographer Daniel Gebhart de Koekkoek (previously) has become a go-to picture-taker for magazines like VICE, Vanity Fair, Monocle, Travel + Leisure, and more. But it's Daniel's personal projects, generally involving travel and adventure, that really get us jazzed. The World We Live In is a great example. Featuring landscapes, portraits, and wildlife in equal measure, the varied subjects were captured from equally varied perspectives at different locations around the globe. As a whole, the collection is the perfect distraction for the start of a work week.

On what photography means to him, Daniel says this:

It’s somehow like a mixture between bondage and relief. Always on the hunt for the next shot – looking for unique moments – to fulfill the addiction to create. And it’s also about collecting. The primary instinct of man. Collector [and] hunter.
