Toby Horrocks: Icon

A recent design media exhibition at the Gallery of Australian Design featured four cardboard installations designed by Melbourne architect Toby Horrocks. Collectively titled 'Icon,' the freestanding installations each represented a mag title published by Architecture Media, which commissioned the project.

Horrocks's free flowing cardboard experiments, each bound by a fixed parametric grid, are designed to be flat packed for lightweight transportation. No word on whether the cardboard used was recycled (other Horrocks projects expressly use recycled cardboard), but in any case, cardboard is a relatively low impact structural material.
