Britain solidified its position as global leader in offshore wind power by announcing the launch of the London Array, a 630MW project near the mouth of the Thames River. The 1.5 billion pound ($2.3 billion) wind farm has 175 Siemens 3.6MW turbines, enough to power half a million homes.
