“Coyotes” is a gentle, folky number from Modest Mouse's upcoming album, Strangers To Ourselves. It comes to us alongside a video starring a furry protagonist. According to fan site Interstate 8, “The video is inspired by the true story of a coyote that rode Portland’s MAX light rail train in 2002,” an incident that also inspired a track by Sleater-Kinney. The video takes a literal intpretation of the event, capturing the cute, wily scavenger cruising the City of Roses on the train. Watch above.

Strangers to Ourselves arrives March 3 through Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock's own Glacial Pace imprint.
