Five years ago, director Chris Paine ruffled a few feathers with Who Killed the Electric Car, a blockbuster documentary that exposed the development and mothballing of electric vehicles in the early 2000s. Now, with the first mass produced electric cars on the road, Paine is back with Revenge of the Electric Car, a behind-the-scenes exploration of the nascent EV industry.
“2011 and 2012 are critical years for the electric car,” Paine told the NYT. “The game is on, and I’d like to see the new film help get us off oil and build momentum for the new generation of cars. I’d like it to be part of the big change.”
Revenge of the Electric Car premiered on Earth Day to a sold out crowd at the Tribeca Film Festival. To petition for a screening where you live, send in a request.
