Minimalist gloom-pop trio The xx have dropped a new video for "Chained," a shadowy standout off of their sophomore release Coexist. The clip, directed by Young Replicant (the team behind the video for Purity Ring's "Fineshine") finds singer/guitarist Romy Madley-Croft submerged breathless underwater. Singer/bassist Oliver Sim dives in after her in ultra slow motion, and the pair eventually make their way back to surface. With the emotional, echoing guitar and vaguely sinister lyrics, the clip offers some suitably broody visuals for the track.

Coexist is out now on Young Turks.
